Though we invariably associate wintry weather with getting sick, it’s actually a myth that being cold will make you catch cold. “You get sick when your immune system is impaired or you’re exposed to a virus or bacteria that your body can’t fight,” says naturopath and nutritionist Candace Paul, N.D., Ph.D., who practices in Valley Center, Calif. “If your body is healthy and in balance, you won’t come down with a cold – not even from winter weather.”

Precautionary Measures
When you’re exposed to pathogens passed around by others who are coughing and sneezing, you need to take preventive precautions. “Try to feed your body in advance by taking extra vitamin C,” Paul advises. “This way when you’re exposed to an onslaught of germs, you won’t be as likely to come down with it.”

The best way to fend off the flu is to get plenty of rest, eat a low-sugar diet –sugar impairs your immunity– and pay attention to your body. When you notice the first signs of a sniffle, use natural remedies such as echinacea that will help the body heal itself. Then give your body a chance to recuperate by getting lots of sleep and drinking plenty of fluids. If you take the time, you may actually nip the crud in the bud.

Here are 10 natural ways to knock out a cold or flu using herbal remedies.

Remember, this information is not intended to replace the care or advice of a physician. If a flu persists, seek medical help.

1. Vitamin C to the rescue . Vitamin C can significantly reduce cold symptoms and help you get over it faster, say Steven Bratman, M.D., and David Kroll, Ph.D., the editors of The Natural Pharmacist Natural Health Bible (Prima, 1999). On days when you’re sick, take 500 to 1,000 mg. of vitamin C three to six times a day, they suggest. Reduce this amount if you develop diarrhea.

2. Help from echinacea . When you need to boost your infection-fighting capacity, try the herb echinacea (pronounced “ek-uh-NAY-shuh”). Taken at the first sign of symptoms, echinacea can speed your recovery and minimize your symptoms. Use this popular herb only while you’re ill – studies don’t report much success with people trying to prevent colds with it.

3. Go for the garlic . This antiviral, antibiotic herb is available in a number of high-potency preparations, including odor-free tablets. Its sulfur-containing oil has active properties that kill bacteria and infections and can be taken throughout the duration of a cold to fight infection, says Michael Murray, N.D., in The Healing Power of Herbs (Prima, 1995).

4. Zap colds with zinc . The human immune system doesn’t function properly when you’re zinc deficient. In addition, higher levels of this important mineral – especially when taken in lozenge form – can cause cold symptoms to improve faster than they would otherwise, according to Natural Health Bible. The usual dosage to take when you’re feeling sick is 23 mg. of zinc gluconate. That amount should be reduced to 10 to 25 mg. daily once you’re well again. Caution: High doses of zinc taken for more than a week can actually suppress immune function.

5. Homeopathic flu care . Nip the flu in the bud with a homeopathic remedy called Anas barberai, usually found under the brand name Oscillococcinum. Take this homeopathic at the very first sign of symptoms such as headache, fever, chills or cough, recommend Robert Ullman, N.D., and Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman, N.D., authors of Homeopathic Self-Care (Prima, 1997).
For proven effective natural medicine for Colds and Flu try ImmunityPlus — Herbal Formula for Optimum Immune System

6. Feel better with elderberry. Native Americans used elderberry tea to treat respiratory infections, and now scientific evidence suggests that taking a standardized elderberry extract can shorten the length of time you’re sick by 50 percent, according to Natural Health Bible.

7. Soothe a sore throat . Sucking on zinc lozenges every few hours can alleviate a sore throat, although you’ll also benefit by drinking a tea made of mucilaginous herbs such as marshmallow or slippery elm, which coat the throat. To help wipe out infection in the throat, gargle with tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic. Add 3 to 6 drops of pure tea tree oil to warm water and gargle for a minute. Repeat three times a day. Caution: Do not swallow tea tree oil, which can kill the friendly flora in your digestive tract.

8. Stop the cough . When you can’t quit coughing, turn to an old standby: hot ginger tea. Ginger stimulates circulation and helps clear your sinuses and lungs of mucus. You may also get some relief with the natural cough suppressant, bromelain, an enzyme from pineapple. It can also soften and loosen hard, sticky mucus, according to Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine by Michael Murray, N.D., and Joseph Pizzorno, N.D. (Prima, 1998).

9. Breathe easier . One of the best ways to open clogged sinus and bronchial passages is to breathe warm steam to which you’ve added essential oil of eucalyptus. For temporary relief of sinus congestion, there’s the herb ephedra, also called ma huang, which has long been used by the Chinese for minor respiratory infections. Because ephedra has serious side effects, use it only under a doctor’s supervision, and then for no more than a week. (Caution: People with high blood pressure or hypertension should not take ephedra.)

10. Sweat out a fever . Sip a hot tea brewed with feverfew, yarrow, catnip, ginger or peppermint. These heating herbs help the fever run its course and do its job, which is to burn off invaders. In addition, the tea will help keep you from becoming dehydrated. If you feel achy from fever, try willow bark, which naturally contains an aspirin-like, pain-relieving substance. Caution: High fever for a prolonged period of time can be dangerous. See your doctor if a high fever persists.

Psychics are people who have mastered the art of using mental powers like ESP (extra sensory perception) to look into the lives and future of other people and predict future events. The word “Psychic” has Greek roots, derived from the word psychiokos or psyche, which means soul or “that which is mental”. The word is generally used to describe fortunetellers.

Many people have psychic abilities, or the abilities to look beyond the things that are seen or heard or sensed by normal human beings. People believe that this is possible by connecting with a higher power like spirits or souls of dead people. A psychic medium is one who tunes to this higher source for information and uses his or her intellect and intuition to analyze a particular situation or a problem. Psychic mediums act as an intermediary between a person in the real world and the soul of a person who has died.

Psychic mediums can connect with spirit guides, guardian angels, dead relatives of the client, and other supernatural beings. A good psychic medium should be able to interpret the sayings of all these beings and perform perfect analysis. Psychic mediums master the art of clairaudience, which is the ability to hear or perceive sounds, which are not normally audible. They are able to first sense the presence of a non-physical entity through spiritual communication, then convey this energy into the physical realm. This process is called mediumship.

There are thousands of psychic mediums in the world, some more active than others. Several are willing to offer their services for a fees ranges from $1 per minute to $10-$15 per minute. Psychic mediums can be contacted by mail, phone or through e-mail. There are also several websites that offer free psychic consultation online. However, these free services are limited. Psychic mediums are slowly finding acceptance by many people and there is a demand for popular psychics, despite the skepticism of some critics.

Psychic mediums are those who claim to have special abilities to communicate with spirits of the dead. They seek to prove that that the human personality continues to exist even in the “afterlife”. Their main occupation and means of livelihood is to help families of the deceased communicate with their loved ones who have passed on. Mediums take their work seriously and regard themselves as a class distinguished from fortune-tellers and other psychics. However, there is not much evidence that these individuals really have the power to break through to the “other side”.

The Two Forms:

According to the followers of this trade, “Psychic Mediumship” is considered to exist in two forms – Physical and Mental.

Physical mediums conduct private séances to link spirits with the living world by way of physical manifestations such as raps, audible voices, body movements etc. It is also claimed that these mediums, while performing psychic rituals, are able to conjure materialized figures of the dead, though confirmation of such phenomenon has never been established.

Mental mediums, on the other hand, use their minds to perform their psychic abilities of contacting the “afterlife”, which include Clairvoyance – when they see the spirit, Clairaudience – when they hear the spirit, and Clairsentience – when the presence and thoughts of the spirit is sense.

Psychics and Psychic Mediums:

Though mediums are also considered to be psychics in the sense of the term, the main difference between regular psychics and mediums is that psychics do not claim to communicate with spirits of the dead. They, on the other hand, perform certain activities that involve predictions and postcognitions. For example, while “psychic detectives” claim to help solve crimes by employing their psychic investigative and sensing abilities in providing information such as when, where, and how; psychic mediums would rather try to contact the spirit of the victim, in an effort to identify the criminal.

Famous Psychic Mediums in History:

While scientists and other skeptics discard the theory of psychic mediumship and raise numerous questions on its credibility, there are some people in history who, and incidents that have continued and managed to baffle many experts and men of science.

One of the most famous among the earliest psychic mediums is Helen Duncan, born in 1898. Her main area was in physical mediumship in which she held séances at home and spiritualist churches. Duncan’s rise to fame is contributed largely by her alleged ability to conjure physical manifestations of the dead. She was arrested a number of time for fraud, vagrancy and conspiracy during her career. However, she continued to practice her trace till 1944, and there are still many incidents concerning her psychic abilities that remained unexplained till today.

Daniel Dunglas Home, born in 1833 in Edinburgh, Scotland, is considered to be the most remarkable psychic physical medium of all time. He conducted several séances during his career which lasted till 1873, in which many inexplicable events took place. Home is best known for his alleged ability to float on air or levitate. After conducting a series laboratory condition tests, even the noted scientist, Sir William Crookes found Home’s many performances baffling and credited the man for being gifted.

Today, the most well-known medium has to be James Van Praagh, who’s made numerous appearances on NBC’s the Other Side; been featured on the Dateline, the Today Show, ABC’s 20/20; and been interviewed on Oprah and Larry king Live. His books such as “Talking to Heaven and Reaching to Heaven” and “Healing Grief” also continue to hit the bestseller lists.

Your loved ones are closer than you think; send them a thought, for thought is powerful in the spirit world.

Psychic predictions and phenomena can be traced back throughout history, but the first professional mediums date back to 1848, when the Fox family of Hydesville, New York, were visited by friendly spirits eager to prove life continued after death.

The two daughters realized they had a talent for this communication, and hired a hall to demonstrate their abilities. The sisters also traveled to further demonstrate their unique talents, and before long similar groups sprang up across the country. This was probably the beginning of the Spiritualist movement that went on to become so popular.

During the 1850`s, a new ambassador arose in the form of Emma Hardinge Britten. She was born in England, but moved to America to work. Emma became famous as a trance medium as she toured America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand spreading the word. Unfortunately, mediums of this era were subjected to ridicule and persecution from both the Church and other skeptics.

Hunt Williamson, Rudolf Steiner, Max Heindel and Edgar Cayce.

The first medium to operate in Britain was a Mrs. Hayden, who took residence in London and held s?ances there. In 1882, a group of Cambridge scholars founded the Society for Psychical Research, pushing the subject further into recognition. Their aim was to “investigate debatable phenomena without prejudice,” though that claim itself was perhaps debatable.

The early demonstrations of mediumship were all very physical, such as rappings, table tipping, materializations, etc., but over the years these declined in popularity to be replaced by the type of mediumship we witness today. Modern mediums work by using the mind as receiver and relaying information to those who need it, and the evidence given of the afterlife in this manner can be even more convincing.

In our modern-day world, the acceptance of mediums has almost become commonplace; certainly such phenomena are more accepted today than twenty years ago. Misconceptions still exist, however, as do doubts and confusion with other religions.

It has been said, “Obedience is not creation,” and that thought serves us well, for there are many things for us to discover in both this world and the next. So be individual and open-minded as you explore the many Wonders of this and other dimensions.

HOW DOES A MEDIUM WORK?

If we accept that dying is not the end of our existence but simply the end of the body that carried our consciousness, and that our soul survives and exists somewhere else, then we can accept that it might be possible to make contact with the consciousness and all the emotions and memories that continue on.

Spirit people who have been contacted insist they have bodies that resemble their forms on the earth plane, though somehow these bodies are more elegant in form and free of ailments, including those of age.

But where are they? They’re not as far away as some would think! The world of spirit exists all around us, yet normally just out of reach. Most believe that this world exists on a different vibration from our own. It might help to think of it as different frequency, much like a radio has different frequencies. The medium has learned to attune to this different and higher frequency or vibration. Likewise, those in the spirit world can tune into us, and it is this joint effort that enables communication.

Spirit contact is thought-generated by both the medium and contacting spirit. When a medium sits with a client, the medium is in effect filled with thoughts about that client; these thoughts are then transmitted by the medium into the world of spirit. If someone in spirit recognizes those thoughts, or the description or name of the client, that spirit may choose to make contact. It is important to realize spirits have the choice; a medium cannot in any way force spirits to make themselves known.

This initial contact is often referred to as “making a link.” The medium has made a request by thought for a communicator to come forward. Just how successful the communication is depends on the experience of the medium, although other factors come into the picture. Once a link is established, the spirit person will often want to prove his or her identity. The spirit communicators will transmit thoughts about themselves to the medium, and the medium will be able to interpret these thoughts and describe the person back to the client.

To be able to interpret any information, a medium has to learn how to attune to the spirit world. While some mediums have grown up with the ability, others have to train their minds to accept information in this way. This is often done by means of meditation, which is a process of calming the body and allowing the mind to become receptive. This can to some extent be taught to anybody, but not all who try will become mediums.

Scientists who have studied the human brain insist we see more with our brain than we do with our eyes, the eyes being just a window. This might help explain how mediums can “see” our spirit friends. The data has simply arrived in an alternative way, as the brain processes the data and “sees” the information.

A medium usually has a variety of psychic skills, but the underlying purpose behind them is threefold: to prove the existence of life after death, to console and advise others, and to further develop his or her own spirituality. How a medium comes to be depends on many factors. Some are born to it; they were able to see spirit people when they were children and further developed those abilities in adulthood. Others come to it later through bereavement. They may seek the services of a medium and then go on to learn the skills themselves. Even curiosity can lead to the development of psychic abilities.

A medium may have any number of skills, though it is more usual for them to excel in just one or two. If we take the late famous medium Doris Stokes for example, she specialized in clairaudience, or hearing spirit voices. Most mediums work by seeing pictures in their minds, and it is an initial image that allows the medium to describe a person in spirit. Often, however, it is a combination of senses that make up the whole picture.

Spirit communicators are able to send feelings, known as clairsentience, to the medium. This is particularly useful if they are trying to indicate what ailment caused them to pass over. They may for example send a mild pain to the heart of the medium; the medium would then be able to tell the client how their loved one died. This is used as excellent evidence. These thoughts, feelings, voices and pictures range in intensity and are combined together. Sometimes the information flows so easily that the medium has no doubts about the information being given, but on other occasions the information can seem a little patchy, and the medium needs to work harder to resolve what comes through. One explanation for this variation in intensity or quality could be how well the spirit communicator has learned to communicate, but it could also be due the medium’s ability to tune in and the rapport he or she has established with spirit guides who play an important role in the proceedings.

It is commonly believed that mental pictures are the easiest format to recognize. After all, we are used to seeing images in our everyday lives. Many mediums work with symbolic images, however. These images represent what the spirit person is trying to communicate, but often not directly. You could think of it as a cryptic visual puzzle. For example, if the medium is shown water, it could be that the spirit person had connections with water in his or her life, such as a career in the navy or coast guard. The medium requires interpretation skills to communicate messages of this kind.

It is common to find crystals, Tarot Cards, candles, Native American symbols and other such objects on the table of a working medium. These articles may represent something that interests that medium, such as Native American artifacts. The Native Americans have long been associated with mediums, as their culture and certainly their beliefs are similar to those of Spiritualists. Many Natives choose to work as spirit guides, helping mediums to develop and use their skills. Crystals and Tarot cards also aid the medium to tune-in, and therefore give a better reading.

HOW CAN A MEDIUM READ OVER THE PHONE, BY LETTER OR E-MAIL?

Mediums work with their spirit guides, who play an important role in the communication process. Each and every one of us has our own spirit guide; they protect and help us. Part of this protection is to ensure that the information given to a medium is something you yourself would be willing to divulge. It may be a deep problem that you might not normally share with a stranger, but ultimately would like to discuss and solve. I have never received information that I was not supposed to know, so the guides must be doing their job!

For a reading to take place over what we consider a great distance, say someone in America writing to someone in England, there must be a link in spirit. When I receive a letter, my spirit guide is as aware of its contents as I am. My guide then makes contact with the seeker’s guide, and the two converse. This begins a series of thoughts that stretch out into spirit. These thoughts are recognized by those we know in spirit, and hopefully they make contact with my guide who helps them to communicate with me or any other medium. So when we say the power of thought is powerful, it really is!

In the spirit world, all spirit people are connected “telepathically” for want of a better word or description. It is a wonderful way of communicating, and helps to explain how we are able to make the links we do. Individual personalities still exist in spirit, but it is this deep understanding and linking that bonds them together.

For many, the road to mediumship will not have been an easy one. All too often some suffering has taken place in their lives. It is through these experiences the soul can be made aware of a greater plan, and our reception to this knowledge better received. Most mediums are caring, sensitive people; it is this unique attribute that allows them to be open enough to hear the thoughts of spirit communicators. Mediums also need to realize they have a great responsibility when dealing with the myriad emotions of the people that come to them. Mediums continually strive for better communication, but no medium can ever consider himself or herself an expert.

WHY DO MEDIUMS AND PSYCHICS CHARGE FEES?

This is a common question, especially as mediums are supposed to be doing their work in a spiritual way for the good of others. The fact is that many mediums decide to dedicate their lives to mediumship, and this entails traveling the country, visiting churches and various other events. It also means that at some point, holding down a nine to five job becomes impossible. Unfortunately, rent, mortgage and food bills still need to be paid; their spiritual “work” becomes their income. Do beware of those charging too much, as well as those premium rate phone numbers. There will always be those ready to exploit the vulnerable and give the genuine a bad name.

THE JOB OF A MEDIUM

Although mediums and psychics may have a window into your soul, are able to foresee some future events and generally advise you, they are not there to tell you what to do. The task of a psychic is to help you take direction and control of your own life. At times when the advice may sound a little vague, perhaps they are suggesting a new set of experiences that will expand your ability to find your own way.

MEETING WITH A MEDIUM

You may decide to meet with a medium because you have lost someone close to you, because you seek guidance in your life or simply out of curiosity, and these are all valid reasons. Whatever the reason, most people find it a fascinating and rewarding experience.

Unfortunately, there are many sad tales of people who sought out the services of psychics and mediums only to come away disheartened and disappointed, vowing never to return.

Mediumship, like many other skills, needs to be perfected. An inexperienced medium may not be able to give as much evidence as a medium who has been working 10 years. Therefore, if you are seeking proof that your loved one is indeed in spirit, it might be worth seeking out the services of more than one medium. The information may be different on each occasion, and it this “picture building” that often convinces.

There are unfortunately many frauds willing to take your money. As a medium myself, I am saddened by how commercialized this subject has become. Also, even the best mediums can have an off day, but those who are genuine will generally tell you and offer a refund. A good medium should be able to give you solid evidence of survival. This might include a description of your loved one, height, build, hair color, etc. Or it may include character, accent, clothes, likes or dislikes, things they used to do, their job, certain mannerisms, etc. There are no rules here, and it can depend on how strong the communication is and how long it lasts, but you should have no doubt that the medium is talking about someone you recognize.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Modern day mediums will often explain how they work and do their best to put you at ease. If you can approach the reading with an open mind, it will help things go better. Generally after the explanation, the medium will tune in to see what he or she can receive. This could result in two things. Either the medium will immediately describe a person to you and ask if you recognize the description. After this the spirit may tell the medium about current or past events in your life. Once confirmed, you may be given advice concerning those or future events. Or the medium may start on a psychic level. In this case, the medium will tell you of your current situation, pick up on feelings that you have, career, relationships or other matters. It may be that later on in the reading the medium will get further advice from those in spirit. It really is quite a simple affair. No spooks will dance round the room, nor will raps arise mysteriously from tables. It’s just an intimate conversation about you and your life, and advice given with sincerity.

FINDING A MEDIUM

To find a medium of good reputation, you could try asking friends and work pals. Perhaps the best place to start would be a local Spiritualist church. You may find one advertised in your local paper. Folks there will put you in touch with a medium of good repute, and will understand and help with any questions or concerns you may have.

We often get asked where people can find a medium. Unfortunately, we do not hold extensive lists of mediums and cannot advise you personally, but if you have never met with one before you might start by trying the following:

᠓piritualist Churches: Phone or call-in. You don’t need to be a regular, and they should be able to recommend someone local for you.

᠐sychic Fairs: These events are well advertised in local papers and other publications. You will be able to have a reading while there.

ᠼa href=”/paranormal” class=”auto-link”>Paranormal Magazines: This is a great place to look, as they usually have a classified ad section and a wide variety of services advertised, some by area.

᠌ocal Papers: This is another good source of ads to check through. Try headings such as personal services. Psychic Fairs are often advertised here.

᠙ou may find a publication called Psychic News of use and interest. You should find it in most newsagents in the UK.

As our society becomes more and more aware of the spiritual nature of our being, many questions arise. As a professional Spiritual Medium, I am often asked many questions by those seeking to understand more about life, death, the afterlife and all things metaphysical. Here, I will answer some of the most common questions I am asked about the art of mediumship, in the hope that it will be helpful to others. psychic medium

What is medium and how do they differ from psychics?

Many people have this question. In short a medium raises their energy in order to connect with those in the afterlife. The medium should be able to give you enough information during the reading to make you feel comfortable that they are connected with someone you recognize.

A psychic usually connects with YOUR psychic energy and gives you a glimpse of the future. It is true that a medium does use psychic ability, which is really just another term for energy. In our society however, it has come to be, that the word psychic is more connected with those who foretell the future. It becomes even more confusing because many professionals do both! Just try to remember a medium connects with spirit in the afterlife and psychics usually tell you about you and your future

What is the purpose of seeking out a medium?

The most common reason to seek out a medium is to connect with those who have passed on, in order to receive comfort. Those who are grieving are reassured that their loved ones do indeed go on into the next reality. It can by no means take away all the loss felt by those in grief, but it can at least give some the peace of mind to know that their loved ones are ok! I have witnessed many, many profoundly healing readings.

Can this truly be done on the telephone or on the Internet?

Yes! As stated above, the medium is dealing with energy, which travels very quickly and has no boundaries.

Is the Medium always successful?

No. Mediumship is not a 100% thing. Those in spirit control much of the communication; so all the reasons for this are not entirely evident to us. There are many variables involved. Some spirits connect better with one medium than another; mediums have good and bad days. Etc.

Is mediumship a gift possessed by only a few people?

This is a common misconception. We all have psychic ability and we all can learn to develop our mediumship skills. Some may be naturally more inclined to it however. I like to compare it to playing the piano. We can all learn to do it, yet some are naturally more inclined toward it. If a person sets out to develop their ability and sticks with it, they can develop their own mediumship abilities.

How can I tell if a medium is ethical?

This is a very important question to ask yourself before seeking out a medium. The main point to remember is that Intent is everything! The universal question to ask is this: Does this professional seek to help me or help himself more? The answer to this question will allow you to see their true nature. The medium’s first responsibility is to show you that such communication is possible. The second responsibility of the medium is to show you that you too possess this ability and that your loved one is around you always. Ethical mediums will not take advantage of those in grief by allowing them to return over and over again. Ethical mediums will also not hesitate to provide you with references from clients nor will they be offended if you ask for references.

Why do Mediums charge?

Many mediums begin by offering free readings. As they progress in their ability, the need arises to devote more time to mediumship and clients. To do this they often need to quit their paying jobs and begin charging for readings. Ethical mediums charge what they feel is necessary to make it possible to continue in their work.

How often should I have a reading?

The answer to this question varies. While it is nice to connect with our loved ones on the other side, it is important to remember that we are presently living in this reality. As stated above, the medium is there to assist you in your understandings, not to become a permanent link to the other side.

How Can I learn to connect with those in spirit?

As we become more aware of ourselves as spiritual beings, the interest in the afterlife increases. If one seeks to learn more about mediumship and the afterlife there are many avenues available through books and on the Internet. The phrase that comes to mind here is, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

History of Akashic Records

Some who believe in the Records claim that they were used by ancient peoples around the world, including the Indians, Moors, Tibetans, Egyptians, Persians, Chaldeans, Greeks, Chinese, Hebrews, Christians, Druids, and Mayans. The belief is that the ancient Indian sages of the Himalayas knew that each soul recorded every moment of its existence in a “book”, and that if one attuned oneself properly then one could read or view that book. In Egypt, it is said, those who could read the Akasha were held in high standing and were often found advising Pharaohs on daily activities and dream interpretation. A Chinese gentleman named Sujujin was reported to need only the first name of anyone to access the Akasha and describe their life history; another Chinese seer, named Tajao, explored a variety of topics in the Records which span over two thousand years. The Bible mentions the records as Book of Life on several occasions, both in Old and New Testament.

The Vedas of Hindus and the language of Sanskrit itself are said to have been extracted from Akash.

In Surat Shabda Yoga cosmology, the Akashic Records would be located within the causal plane of Trikuti.

Believers claim that the Druid cultures of England and Wales (400–900) demonstrated the ability to access the Akasha.[citation needed] To gain access to the Akasha, the famous seer Nostradamus claimed to have used methods derived from the Greek oracles, Christian and Sufi mysticism, and the Kabbalah. Individuals who claim to have consciously used the Akashic Records include : Charles Webster Leadbeater, Annie Besant, Alice Bailey, William Lilly, Manly P. Hall, Lilian Treemont, Dion Fortune, George Hunt Williamson, Rudolf Steiner, Max Heindel and Edgar Cayce.

Despite claims that the Akashic Records have been used by mystics throughout history, the term itself, along with the concept of an aetheric library, originated with the 19th century movement of Theosophy. Skeptics suggest that the concept of Akashic Records has been attributed indiscriminately and inappropriately to a wide range of historical religious figures and movements.

The theory has also been rejected by the scientific community, due to a lack of any independently verifiable evidence.

Description and explanation of the Akashic Records

The Akasha is said to be the library of all events and responses concerning Human Consciousness in all realities. Every human therefore supposedly contributes and has access to the Akashic Records. It is claimed that to gain access into the Akashic Records, every individual human can become the physical medium, and various techniques (e.g., yogic breathing, visualizations) can be employed to quiet the mind, become a “witness”, and achieve the focused, preconscious state necessary to access the Records. While in the Akashic Records and viewing the past, both the events and responses are said to be visible. This can be compared to seeing a full color movie with a plot and characters. When viewing the future, the events are known, but the responses are only probable. Based on an individual’s responses in the past, the Akashic seer/reader can investigate probable future responses and give the highest future probability. A simple illustration of this might be witnessing several alternate endings to the main characters in a movie (e.g., Run, Lola, Run). However, at some point in the evolution of the Akashic reader, a state of unification and awareness can be achieved whereby even the future responses are known with absolute clarity instead of only as a probability.
Specific accounts of the Akashic Records

In Theosophy and other New Age-related faiths, the Akashic Records are records of all knowledge, including all human experience down to the finest detail, held in the universe. The Akashic records resemble a library and are also compared to a universal computer (some would say the ‘Mind of God’).

The Akashic Records are referred to by Edgar Cayce, who stated that each person is held to account after life and ‘confronted’ with their personal Akashic record of what they have/not done in life in a karmic sense. This is not however a process evaluated by the supposed limited lowly earth plane mind—i.e. the brain—but one fathomed by the higher mind or one’s ‘super-consciousness’.

Jane Roberts in the Seth books describes a different version of a similar idea when Seth asserts that the fundamental stuff of the universe is ideas and consciousness, and that an idea once conceived exists forever. Seth argued that all ideas and knowledge are in principle accessible by “direct cognition”. Direct cognition is similar to or perhaps identical to intuition and is said to allow direct knowing without time elapsing and without knowledge needing to be transferred e.g. in speech or text. This is similar to what Robert Monroe refers to as rotes in his out-of-body book trilogy.

Some writers believe that free from and independent of all religions and faiths, there exist many libraries or record repositories such as the Akashic library throughout the universe, albeit on various planes of existence.

According to Max Heindel’s Rosicrucian writings, the Memory of Nature (Akashic Records) may be read in three different worlds (planes). In the reflecting ether of the Etheric region there are pictures of all that has happened in the world – at least several hundred years back, or much more in some cases – and they appear almost as the pictures on a screen, with the difference that the scene shifts backward. The Memory of Nature may be read, in an entirely different manner covering the essence of a whole life or event, in a higher world, the World of Thought, also known as Mental plane, in its highest subdivision: the Region of Concrete Thought and, last, it may be read in the World of Life Spirit, covering events from the earliest dawn of our present manifestation, but only Adepts and higher spiritual Beings are able to reach the reading of this higher Memory (or Records).

Living in Synchronicity with the Universe

[/fusion_title][fusion_text]

By Amy Biddle

I’ve always loved the movies where someone says, “Synchronize watches!” A team of heroes would have to split up to do their individual jobs, but to complete their common mission successfully, they had to work in synchronicity. I think I must have enjoyed that so much, because somewhere inside me I knew, even as a kid, that that’s how it is for all of us.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ layout=”1_2″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_text]First documented in the academic world by the psychoanalyst Carl Jung in 1928, synchronicity is the occurrence of coincidences (events happening at the same time) that may not appear to be related in any way, except that they are meaningful to us.

There are two aspects of events that place them in synchronicity – the events that coincide (meaning they happen side-by-side in time) and their meaning for us. A car drives by my window at the exact moment that I write these words. The writing and the driving happen at the same time, but I probably won’t feel the gratitude and awe I feel when touched by synchronicity.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ layout=”1_2″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no” element_content=””][fusion_text]

However,
if Deepak Chopra, who writes and speaks about synchronicity, drives by at the same time I’m writing about the subject, it would be very meaningful for me. I might feel I received a sign that I was on the right track. I might even be able to run out and ask a question that would be good for the article.

[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_text]

An important thing to note about synchronistic events is that while two events are related by meaning, they are not related
causally – at least, not as we usually understand that. Neither event causes the other, yet they are clearly related. Sometimes a series of synchronicities brings about a beautiful manifestation of love in action. For example:

The manager of a church bookstore was journaling prayerfully, when she got an idea to donate books to a women’s shelter, whose
location was a secret. When she called the shelter to set up delivery of the books, the manager learned that a fellow congregant volunteered there and could easily deliver the books. The manager had not known this congregant before, so neither her idea nor the congregant’s volunteering caused each other, but they were two small events in a larger event of service.

The manager got approval from her church and invited the congregation to buy books to donate to the shelter. The response was enormous. Not only did people donate money and buy books for the shelter library, they also brought nice used books – inspiration, self-help, parenting, and children’s books. The manager collected enough books for a small library, and the volunteer delivered them.

A week or so later, the manager received a thank-you letter from the director of the shelter that made the hair on the back of
her neck stand up. The director was very grateful for the bookstore’s “response” to recent events. A water pipe had burst, causing extensive damage to the old women’s shelter. Now, the program was in a new shelter location, and the women were especially grateful for their new library, because their old one had been wiped out in the flood! The bookstore manager had not known about this event, so the flood did not cause her idea. And of course, her idea did not cause the flood that happened several weeks earlier. It was as if God or the cosmos had “synchronized watches” between the bookstore and the shelter! Such is the beauty and mystery of synchronicity.

ANSWERS:
1. If you have a south-sector bathroom, you should decorate in blues/blacks. To decorate it in reds is to enhance the toilet, which you never want to do.

2. When arranging your desk at work, the MOST important thing is to sit where you can see the door. Then, face an auspicious direction and have a mountain behind you!

3. You should always find out what is in a sector FIRST and then enhance it accordingly. If the north has a bathroom, you DO NOT want to put more water here as it will enhance the toilet. Likewise, you should not add water, if the north sector has a bedroom. This will cause money loss. If the north has a living room, front door, dining room, or other area, then enhancing with water or fish is just fine.

4. Get help from people in power by installing a 6-rod hollow windchime in the NW sector.

5. Never have PLANTS in the center of the home as these will hurt your health, wealth, career, and relationships.

6. If your SW sector is missing, your romance suffers.

7. Water should always be in the FRONT of your home.

8. The “mouth of chi” is the front door.

9. The best place to activate all 9 sectors is the LIVING ROOM.

10. Blue and black should never be used on ceilings or roofs.

Have you ever noticed how some homes make you feel relaxed, ready to lounge, while others make you want to run for the hills? Do you wonder why some businesses are financially prosperous while others of equal merit fail? It’s a well known fact that environment affects our health. But did you know that relationships, even financial success could greatly depend on the arrangement of your furniture?
Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway) is a 5000-year-old Chinese art form designed to enhance the harmony between people and their environments. Originally used by Chinese emperors to maintain power and increase wealth, Feng Shui blends philosophy, astrology, and design.

“How to Apply Feng Shui to 26 Areas Of Your Life & Home!” Click Here!

Literally translated as wind and water, Feng Shui is based on the Taoist belief that our bodies and everything around us are comprised of a constant flowing energy called ch’i. We not only exchange this ch’i with the people around us, but the buildings we live in, the furniture we sit on, even our front doors.

Feng Shui is designed to improved the flow of ch’i, creating harmony unique to our own personal energy by working with these five elements:

  • fire
  • earth
  • metal
  • water
  • wood

Through the proper placement of art, furniture, mirrors and other simple cures, this art form can increase business, enliven your health and even change your luck.

How Do You Use Feng Shui?

Since its recent popularity, Feng Shui consultants are readily available to help arrange your home or office. When building or remodeling, choose an architect or designer that includes Feng Shui principles in their plans. However, you need not hire someone to start today. Improve your Feng Shui by using some of the simple techniques listed below.
Front Door

The main door to your house or business is a key point for traffic and flow of ch’i. Your door should be proportionate to the building and well maintained. A clean unobstructed entrance way is essential to invite people and their energies inside. Placing a wind chime at the entrance allows people to transition from the outside world into the tranquil world within.
Hallways

Hallways are the roads by which ch’i enters your home or business. Spacious conditions will encourage life-giving energy to enter. If your front door opens into a hallway, make sure the hallway is well lit and uncluttered. Dark, cramped hallways impede ch’i circulation. In very dark hallways, keep a light burning at all times. You can enliven the ch’i with leafy green plants, mirrors, and brightly colored walls.
Living Room

The layout of your living room should invite relaxation. Place your sofa with the back to a wall, thereby offering people support and protection. Use soft lighting to encourage repose. Choose furnishings suitable to the room size and arrange it sparsely; cramped pathways funnel negative forces. In smaller living rooms, create more space by hanging a mirror which magnifies ch’i. Use window coverings over large windows to prevent too much ch’i from escaping. If your kitchen is attached to the living room, add a screen or divider to separate the room from busy kitchen activities.
Kitchen

The kitchen is the center of health and prosperity in the home. Stoves represent wealth and should be kept clean and in good working order to allow money to enter. Natural or bright lighting, clean windows, and fans can help encourage healthy ch’i movement. Kitchens that open to the front door can funnel negative energy and cause overindulgence. Use a screen or piece of furniture to form a barrier. If a bathroom opens directly into your kitchen, make sure the door remains closed to avoid germs and odors spreading into food preparation areas. Keep the kitchen clean and uncluttered. Eliminate garbage build-up that inhibits healthy flow. Avoid hanging knives or sharp utensils from kitchen cabinets; they can slice through the ch’i.
Bedroom

The bedroom greatly affects our health, marriage, and prosperity. Make sure the head of your bed is against the wall to provide support. Place your bed within sight but not directly aligned with the door. This allows you to see who is entering and provides security. Never place your bed under exposed beams. They carry the weight of the house and can cause headaches and loss of creative energy. If the beam can’t be avoided, hang a small mirror or crystal from it to disperse energy. Keep the space under your bed clear, allowing ch’i to flow unobstructed. Remove large fans or lights directly overhead since they create the feeling that something is about to fall. Instead, use night stands with lamps on the side of the bed for lighting.
General Tips

Healthy plants and flowers encourage ch’i
Lights fill empty or asymmetrical areas with energy
Mirrors can expand small areas, reflect nature, or correct protrusions or unwanted beams
Aquariums and fountains can bring good fortune

Remember, Feng Shui’s applications are limitless but with these simple ideas you can begin to explore the interrelationship between you and your environment and watch your energy soar.
