Everyone is so caught up with the word psychic. It seems to mean different things to different people I have noticed. What is in a name after all? Well, if I put on my numerologist hat, there is quite a bit in a name, but, I will save that fascinating topic for a future newsletter. The word psychic does not confer any rare mystical power bestowed upon a select few. A dictionary definition states, “supposedly sensitive to supernatural forces: claiming, or believed to have, extraordinary sensitivity to nonphysical or supernatural forces.”

In the way ‘psychic’ is used when it pertains to a psychic reading, psychic means using senses other than the five main physical senses most of us enjoy – the sense of sight, the sense of smell, the sense of hearing, the sense of taste and the sense of touch–are all very palpable to most of us and we pretty much take these for granted.

ABut the psychic sense – what really is it? What do people who call themselves psychic really sense and where does it come from and how do they do that? You may be aware that all humans possess the higher intuitive faculty that we all can access, which is being referred to here as psychic ability. Those who have become authentic psychic advisors have developed this sense more than the average person or were perhaps born with a more heightened or finely tuned sense of what is going on around them that involves other than the five senses and are able to use this faculty to help themselves and others.

I am asked this many times. How do you do that? I have gone into deep reflection on this very topic, and I don’t believe that many spiritual workers really literally know how what we do really works. I have found that different psychics use different methods and, really, I’ve learned that many psychic advisors felt or knew something about themselves was different from a very young age. They have many different experiences, many different from each others experiences, yet they can all be defined as psychic. So, it’s that special sensation you feel (but do not understand fully) that allows you to be able to sense things NOT using your usual five senses BUT, being very real. Believe me, it takes training, skill, experience and knowledge to become a really good psychic advisor, and this is true for astrologers, numerologists and others who use these tools to see the unseen or the unknown.

I have been giving readings now for many, many years and I, myself, have used many psychics to read me. On this journey, I have learned so much about the truly unique service of giving psychic advice (when it is authentic) and can give you valuable information acquired from my personal and professional experience. This article is by no means intended to represent the entire scope of psychic advising and all the different methods but only those with which I am very familiar and can therefore offer illumination to persons who may be interested.

Firstly, I would like everyone to recognize that in far too many cases, you are not really getting a psychic reading at all. The unfortunate truth about this business is that so many psychic advice businesses (which include the 900 number services and large psychic advice websites) have used psychic advice as a means to exploit peoples’ vulnerabilities. How to choose a psychic has become a crucial selection process.

It is so easy to believe wonderful things someone is saying about you, your loved ones, or friends and lovers but many times it turns out not to be at all realistic. Wonderful things do happen to all of us at some times in our lives, but it’s just a little more than a coincidence that when you call a psychic, all of a sudden all these rosy, wonderful things are about to happen, and especially with regards to what you are asking about and then some, and let’s not forget that’s “exactly what you want to hear.” It’s not easy to find someone who has all the qualities you should look for when you search for psychic help.

I have learned (and you can benefit from this information if you are new to seeking psychic advice), that everyone who says they are psychic, simply are not. In fact, most psychic networks via telephone or large websites that have thousands of advisors waiting to take your call, are comprised of individuals who simply put up an ad promoting themselves as a clairvoyant, medium, tarot card reader, etc. and their best skill is taking your money and exploiting your needs. This business is totally unregulated and therefore you’d better beware of the fakes and the con artists out there who are waiting for people who are not that discriminating in choosing a qualified psychic advisor.

Not only are they unskilled with using intuitive arts as it is intended to be used, but do not have any concern for the well-being of the people calling them whatsoever. There are, however, many truly talented and ethically sound psychics, mediums, astrologers, numerologists and tarot readers out there. Finding them is the hard part. When you find yourself calling a network of unauthenticated people who are calling themselves psychic and even claiming to be certified, who do not have to adhere to any previously established guidelines and standards, except for the very small self-governing population of ethical psychic readers, you put yourself at risk of not only wasting your money but believing in someone who, 1) has no talent whatsoever and 2) has a total disregard for your well-being.

This brings me to the variety and scope of the authentic psychic population, their abilities and what they can and cannot really tell you and some information about what you should realistically expect. Also, I would like to clarify some of the questions people always ask about concerning timing and why even an authentic psychic can sometimes be wrong with regards to a specific prediction or may not for one reason or another be able to connect with your energy at the time of your reading. This is not an exact science and one should approach their reading with an open mind and with an attitude of assisting your advisor by not resisting what information is brought forth but rather going with the flow of the reading being conducted by a capable and responsible psychic advisor. My next articles about psychics will expound upon the different aspects of a psychic reading and methods.

p>Edgar Cayce is well known as the biggest psychic of the twentieth century and has even been featured on TV programs with the likes of Nostradamus and such – The Other Nostradamus on the History channel. The amazing thing is his prophecies are more exact and are still coming true – and they were all done while Edgar Cayce was asleep!

Yes, many prophecies from Nostradamus to Sylvia Brown tell of forthcoming doom – earthquakes, fire from the skies, the second coming of Jesus, the Revelations coming true, etc… And yes Edgar Cayce does hint at some of these things coming true – A major earthquake in Japan where half or more of Japan falls into the sea, a restructuring of our continent, NYC under water or destroyed in some fashion, etc… But he also, in many of his readings tells of a more gradual change – a new birth for our world. A world with stronger religious ties and a global unified family.

According to Cayce, Jesus second coming will be spiritual with a reawakening of religion and unity. He relates the coming changes that are necessary prior to this unified world to mankinds wanton use and disregard of natures resources. We determine our future through our past actions and our past is full of pollution and no future planning (like the oil situation – we have been warned of oil and gas crisis many times yet we continue to drive bigger vehicles and become more dependent on volatile countries like Iran and Iraq for our oil and natural gas).

The coming disasters are instep with our past actions – releasing CFC’s into the environment for years has created a large hole in the ozone which is altering our climate. Our increased emissions are also further destroying our environment.

Cayce in his readings states that there were previous civilizations on Earth – Atlantis and others that there are records for so we could learn from their mistakes which are probably similar to our own. He hints that these records are in the Sphinx and off the Bimini coast. One must wonder why the Egyptian government has stopped all expeditions and research around the Sphinx – are they afraid of what they might find – Edgar Cayca has been right on everything so far. What is amazing is that Edgar Cayce hypnotized himself and did these readings in his sleep with dozens of witnesses. How could he make up his readings – and there are over 14,000 of them.

What we need to take from this is that we have the power to change the future. We can already take steps to conserve energy, better our selves, become self sufficient and less dependent on others, help others that are less fortunate – basically improving our world. This will happen, regardless, possibly in our time, how drastic the changes are is up to us. We caused the middle east crisis as we have become ever so dependent on oil. According to Cayce we can each take a role in making this transitional period less turbulent and that maybe if this occurs humanity may survive into this next, more spiritual age, unlike with previous civilizations.

Aura Part 1 – What is It and Why is It So Important?

By Sacha Tarkovsky

Aura is important and if you understand what it is and gain your own then you can derive more from life and gain a greater understanding of other people. We often say people have aura about them but what does this actually mean? This is an article in two parts. Part 1 will acquaint you with the aura; what it is and what it means. In Part 2 we show you to actually see your and other’s auras, and how such knowledge can be used to understand your own basic nature and physio-spiritual condition. The word aura, itself is derived from the Greek (avra) meaning dawn, breath, or golden glow. An aura can be described as a particular atmosphere or quality that seems to surround a person or thing. An aura can also be described as the halo, which is used in Christian art and writings meaning a visible aura. In Eastern religions, the aura and halo are the same.

In today’s popular belief, the aura refers to an energy field (or some field) emanating from the surface of a person or object. This emanation can be visualized as an outline of cascading color and may be held to represent soul vibrations, chakric (the chakra being spiritual energy center’s within and without one’s body) emergence, or even a reflection of surrounding energy fields. Auras may be viewed by the naked eye, though it usually requires training. This training is a sort of focused concentration, and can enable or improve one’s ability to see auras. Auras often have layers, and these layers are separate and distinct yet connected to all the remaining layers.

The imagines of Christian saints as well as Eastern holy images, all have golden auras, meant to reflect divine light. In metaphysics today, the aura is identified with electromagnetic fields. Whatever the nature of the auric field (be it electromagnetic or otherwise). the existence of electromagnetic fields around every object in the known world is a scientifically proven fact. The question is not whether auras exist or not, but if humans can see these electromagnetic fields as colors with the naked eye.

Auric Energy Field

However, these energy fields have been documented by a rare form of photography called Kirlian photography. In such photos, clearly observable fields of light emanate from any living creature and even inanimate objects. Does an aura signify anything? Does it have a meaning? There is a popular belief that auras change colors and shapes with the changing moods and situations of each person. While some hold this to be true, some claim that there is no way to change one’s aura, and that it is considered to be a universal spiritual signature. It appears that only through conscious control, and perfected practice can the aura be used to identify a malfunction of the body, heal oneself and according to certain people, and change how one is perceived by the surrounding.

The emanating colors of the aura are often tied to special or hidden meanings. Some claim that the seven colors comprising the aura that emanate from the surface of the object are mystically tied to many other things, like the planets, days of the week, and the musical notes. The aura is also sometimes told to have more than seven colors, as explained below. Lets see what they mean;

  • Purple: indicates spiritual thoughts. Purple is seldom a single color in the Aura. A guru or saintly teacher might have this color aura.
  • Blue: Balanced existence, sustaining life, eased nerve system, transmitting forces and energy. People with blue strong point in their Aura are relaxed, balanced are born survivors. Electric blue can overpower any other color in the Aura, when a person is receiving and/or transmitting information in a telepathic communication, they glow electric blue.
  • Turquoise: indicates dynamic quality of being, highly energized personality, capable of projection, influencing other people. People with turquoise strong point in their Aura can do many things simultaneously and are good organizers. Turquoise thought is a thought about organizing and influencing others.
  • Green: restful, modifying energy, natural healing ability. All natural healers should have it. People with a green strong point in their Auras are natural healers. The stronger the green Aura, he better the healer. Green thought indicates a restful state and healing.
  • Yellow: joy, freedom, non-attachment, freeing or releasing vital forces. People who glow yellow are full of inner joy, very generous and not attached to anything. Yellow halo around the head: high spiritual development. A signature of a spiritual teacher. Buddha and Christ had yellow halos extending to their arms. Yellow thought indicates a moment of joy and contentment.
  • Orange: uplifting and absorbing. Inspiring. A sign of power. Ability and/or desire to control people. When orange becomes a strong point, it usually contributes to a yellow halo, which then becomes gold, indicating not only a spiritual teacher. Orange thought is a thought about exercising power or a desire to control people.
  • Red: materialistic thoughts, thoughts about the physical body. Predominantly red Aura indicates materialistically oriented person.
  • Pink (=purple+red): love (in a spiritual sense). To obtain a clean pink, you need to mix the purple (the highest frequency we perceive) with red (the lowest frequency). Pink Aura indicates that the person achieved a perfect balance between spiritual awareness and the material existence. The pink color in the Aura is quite rare and appears only as a temporary thought, never as a strong point in the Aura.

Auras exists and we often say someone has it without realizing what it actually is this is a basic introduction what aura is and following articles will show you how to get an aura that will help you derive more from life.

In my work as a psychic who seeks to mentor those developing their own skills, I find it important to mention this subject. I refer to psychic abilities as just what they are – skills or abilities. The other terms I find to be damaging as they infer that this is unattainable by others, or that psychic senses are much more supernatural than they actually are.

Often I hear others speak of their developing abilities as gifts, as though they were so special that God gave them this unique and special ability and not others. Unfortunately, many famous psychics also do this, insinuate that some great mystical super-secret society power has been bestowed on them. This is harmful to those who would love to develop psychically but feel that they aren’t enough somehow, or haven’t been chosen.

Are psychic abilities gifts? Indeed they are. Those of us who have developed them recognize that we are blessed, but I also recognize that every breath I take on this planet is also a gift. I also know that we all breathe. Therefore oxygen, while still a beautiful, precious gift that should not be taken for granted, is something that we can all partake in.

Psychic ability is no different. Just as everyone can pick up a pencil and write with it, everyone can also learn to develop some form of psychic skill set. Not everyone will become a Pulitzer prize winning novelist, or famous poet, but that doesn’t stop all of the rest of us from writing, so why should it stop beginners in Metaphysical studies from even trying? It is amazing to me the number of people who come to me and say I don’t think I am gifted? or Can you tell me if I have gifts?. My answer: Are you standing here, breathing, having a life experience right now? then yes you are gifted. The key is not focusing on lack or what one doesn’t have, but appreciating what is.

Psychic abilities are not elusive foreign phenomenon that only the chosen few can bring forward, they are an innate set of senses, hidden deep within the psyche and soul of each being that must be allowed to be brought forward. Many people don’t agree with this, they believe that because they want psychic abilities that they must already be allowing it and it just isn’t coming. This is very untrue. Developing these skills means adjusting to a different reality that what is presently understood and accepted both by society and the individual. The body/mind have a natural resistance to this in place as a protective mechanism. In order to reach our fullest potential psychically, we have to work at peeling away the barriers. It can take considerable time and effort to allow these abilities to manifest to their fullest potential, and as with anything worth having they require persistence and dedication.

We live in a society that pushes heavily the instant gratification syndrome, and this tends to cause many developing psychics to throw in the towel much to soon. When we add the stigma of being gifted to it, many don’t even try at all. They are falsely led to believe that these abilities just manifest in others who have been fortunate enough to have them bestowed upon them by Creator. News Flash, God/Creator loves all of creation, so why then would He/She/It only give gifts to some of the Earths children and not to all? That’s not unconditional love, but it is a human condition ;). Everyone of you reading this also has psychic ability, and yes it is a gift, but so is everything else.

Another word I hear misused a lot is powers. Psychic ability does not give us power over anyone, and those psychics who believe it does usually find their careers short lived, or find that Karma catches up eventually. Any genuine psychic is humble enough to tell people that they too can do what he/she is doing. A good psychics goal is to empower others not to wield some false sense of power over them. When I hear psychics and/or aspirants refer to their powers it is one of my biggest pet peeves. That word implies not only that it is a super secret society elite thing again, but also propagates fear and contributes to the already abounding social ignorance surrounding psychic phenomenon. Those who do this to puff up their own egos by portending they have super-hero like powers make it difficult for genuine psychics to get established and the outlook for ever being taken seriously in our field becomes even more grim.

I have the utmost respect for psychics and healers as well, who seek to empower others by demystifying this process. John Edward is one prime example of a mainstream psychic who has done a lot of work in this area. Thanks to his work, more people are seeing this as something that is not just a power for the chosen ones, but something anyone with the dedication to do so can develop. I hope that as more of us establish our careers we will also take the high road and continue to promote more personal empowerment and less hocus-pocus. Knowledge is the true power.

Believe it or not, you are psychic. We are all psychic, but are conscious of our abilities to varying degrees. You use your own psychic awareness or intuition daily. When you have a “gut reaction” or know something “in your heart,” you are very clear about what your intuition is saying to you. When you feel uncomfortable with someone or something, or get the sudden impulse to change your plans or do something differently, you’re picking up subtler clues from your inner guidance system. Each time you empathize with someone, feeling for a moment how they feel, you are connecting with them energetically, transcending the physical limits of space and time to know another’s reality.

It is not necessary or even advisable to take on another’s emotions or experience in order to perceive that person’s reality or to predict the probable future. However, the same sort of energetic shift must be made mentally to consciously connect with the information sought, whether it’s for another or for one’s self. There are many ways to consciously access one’s intuition when approaching everyday questions.

The process of developing one’s psychic abilities is the process of becoming more “awake” in one’s life. In sudden spiritual awakenings it can be like putting on glasses after years of not seeing with 20/20 vision, and not having known that one’s vision was less than it could be. Usually, however, there is a more gradual development of psychic skills.

Most humans can run, but a runner who practices and trains regularly, pushing himself to become better, faster, and more enduring, is clearly able to perform much better as a runner and with greater ease. Similarly, a psychic who has developed and improved upon her abilities is able to access information that is clearer and more accurate than can an untrained person, and is able to do this with much greater ease.

There are many positive aspects of becoming more aware, but there are also some challenges that come with the territory. It can be disconcerting to be seeing things that no one else sees. One begins to feel fundamentally different from most people. It can be hard to “turn off” one’s sensitivity, and being in crowds or around negative people can become very difficult. Sometimes the psychic may see into his/her own future, and it can become difficult to go with the flow in one’s life when the outcome of a particular relationship or situation has been foreseen.

Psychic ability also comes with a great deal of responsibility. Those who develop such ability must concurrently develop a greater sense of love and integrity, for not only will they have a greater affect on others, the repercussions of their own actions will be more dramatic and immediate. Spiritually, one is held to higher standards the more one develops. We are responsible for all the knowledge we possess.

This said, there are many positive aspects to developing one’s psychic abilities. The most profound result is a deep knowing that we are more than physical bodies in a physical universe. An opening psychic comes to experience the magic of Spirit on a daily basis, and develops naturally a great faith that there is purpose behind our experiences and that there are great and benevolent forces at work in the Universe. A skilled and compassionate psychic can facilitate the realization of her own goals and those of others by accessing information about the roots of unwanted experiences and the paths toward fulfillment.

This is the first in what will no doubt be many articles on developing your own psychic abilities, and with this in mind, let’s start with some fun ways to move toward a more conscious relationship with your intuition.

First, ask for signs from the Universe or your own higher self, and then pay attention! We are guided in many ways all the time, and many people are not even aware of when they are accessing their intuition. Often, those experiences we label as “coincidences” are ripe with the magic energy of Spirit. Ask and ye shall receive.

A few months ago, I was reminiscing with another clairvoyant about the good old days when we were opening psychically. In the beginning, Spirit will bring dramatic experiences to prove the validity of the non-physical and one’s intuition. As time goes on and one develops more, less drama is required, for the psychic is able to perceive subtler nuances of energy, and has come to trust in her perceptions. I realized that I missed seeing apparitions with my physical eyes and having dramatic spiritual experiences, and I asked the Universe to bring me those kinds of experiences again. As they say, be careful what you wish for!

Three days later I was driving home when I had the impulse to go left where I would normally go straight. Both routes lead to home and are fairly equal, except my usual route is more scenic. In any case, I had the impulse to go left, then I heard, “There will be an accident on the road going left.” I therefore slowed down (at this point I was practically creating a hazard myself as I decided what to do). Then I heard, “Go left. There will be an accident, but it will be okay.” So I went left.

A few seconds later, an Explorer came hurtling and spinning through the air just ahead of my car. As I was expecting calamity, I was able to call 911 from my car phone and run to the scene of the accident before the truck even stopped rolling. I was the first person on the scene, and was able to comfort the young woman who was hanging suspended upside down in the driver’s seat with a head injury until the paramedics arrived. I was grateful that I had been given the dramatic experience by being led to go that way and that I was able to help, and that I had been forewarned of the accident so that I slowed down (or I would have been in it). Ask the Universe for signs. It works!

It’s important to get into a place of objective clarity when asking for guidance from within. If you’re in a place of fearfulness or worry, your channel to Spirit through your own inner guidance system will be clouded. To attain such a clear objective perspective, especially in the beginning, it’s wise to meditate for at least five to ten minutes. Try to envision a place of serenity and beauty, and think of something you love wholeheartedly, whether it’s “God,” nature or a loved one. This will raise your vibration and you’ll be able to more easily transcend the input of the ego. Listening to uplifting music can also raise one’s vibration.

Once you’re in such a state, try simply asking a question you’re wondering about, and listening/looking for an answer in the thoughts or images that arise in the mind. Remember that the more important an issue is and the stronger your desire for guidance or an answer, the clearer and more powerful the answers you get will be. This is why ESP experiments about random subjects produce much less remarkable results than personal experiences of the miraculous that frequently occur when someone is in danger.

For more clarity, try writing a question on a piece of paper, and then simply writing the answer. Some recommend writing the answer with the non-dominant hand. The important thing is to trust what comes into your mind. This is also an excellent way to begin to communicate with loved ones in spirit. Rather than going directly into trying to “channel” material as in automatic writing, simply write your question and then write the answer. Experiment with this. Trust that the answers you receive are perfect for you in the moment.

“A powerful agent is the right word. Whenever we come upon one of those intensely right words the resulting effect is physical as well as spiritual and electrically prompt.” -Mark Twain

There is more to ordinary conscious reality than meets the eye. Our minds are constantly filtering information. If they didn’t, we’d be quickly overwhelmed by stimuli. As you’re reading this, take a moment to stop and listen for background noises. Is there a fan? An air conditioner? Can you hear people in another room or outside? The computer is probably humming. You may now even be aware of the slight sound of your breath as you inhale and exhale. Were you aware of any of these sounds before you focused upon them? Now wiggle your tongue. Remember that tongue? Most likely, you were not “aware” of even having a tongue until I drew your attention to it. Psychics have learned where to turn their attention in order to become aware of that which is normally outside of conscious awareness.

There are subtle mental borderlines beyond which all conscious reason and understanding seem to fall away. It is in this gray area that we struggle to understand logically that which is beyond conventional reason. What is it that is accessed by a psychic? How do we know where to look for the answers? How do we even know there ARE answers?

At this time of rapid technological development, science has become the religion of the masses. Fortunately, new technology is also helping us to confirm much of what the mystics have known and taught for ages. There are ways of knowing that go beyond the left-brain, logical, mechanical approach that is emphasized in Western culture and cultivated in an educational structure that defines thought and “reality” in limiting ways.

For example, some of us have better physical vision than others. A child can spot an airplane far away in the sky that may not even “exist” for the child’s great-grandmother. A dog can hear pitches above the human range of hearing. We can not hear it, but that does not mean it is less “real” than what we can hear. Modern technology has given us the ability to detect and measure energy that is usually beyond our physical awareness. Our physical eyes can detect color from red to violet, but we now know that infra-red exists below the spectrum we’re able to see, and ultra-violet exists above the frequency our eyes generally observe.

Psychics are not dealing with the “physical” universe as governed by known laws related to space and time, but are accessing non-physical information through non-physical senses. From a quantum physical perspective, there are no hard boundaries or limitations in the Universe, including those we generally perceive related to space and time. Our thoughts or conscious awareness can transcend the constructed “reality” of space/time in order to see into something at a “distance,” or see into the future.

Many people ask how readers can read over the internet, without a physical body present. Well, how can a psychic read when the person IS present? Unless a psychic is simply reading a person’s body language, it should not make a difference. The energies and information accessed are not of the physical realm, and therefore not influenced by physical particulars. “Physical” here denotes that which is experienced by our physical senses, that which is seen, felt, heard, smelled, and tasted. There is truly nothing that is “solid” or “physical” as we tend to think of it. There is a range of vibrations that constitute what we call physical reality, and as we rise above this, we enter the non-physical, just as when we heat water, it goes from solid (ice) to liquid, to gas, and seems to “disappear.” Psychics are able to continue to perceive the “gas” realm of energy that is not observable to others.

This extraordinary awareness is achieved by expanding or altering one’s state of consciousness. What is perceived is then translated into words for communicating what has been observed or gleaned from the process. Just as some people are better able to see that airplane far off in the distance, so are others better able to transcend space and time consciously. While physical skills take a bit more work to influence, the development of psychic ability is similar to the development of any mental ability. Just as we can learn to paint or perform mathematics, so too can we develop the skills of the psychic arts. Of course, just as some are born natural artists or mathematicians, some are also born with the unique energy and genetic aptitude to be gifted psychics.

In addition to natural ability, it takes time, focus and discipline for psychics to continue to develop and maintain their skills. Most devote time daily to meditation. Overall balance and clarity must be maintained in the entire energy system. All the chakras must be kept in harmony, so to work intensely with Spirit means one must work comparably with other energies. Blocks or clouded energy in one sphere will limit what one is able to achieve in the spiritual arena, and concurrently the higher and clearer all aspects of the human energy system, the more deeply and powerfully one is able to work in any one area.

To achieve this balance, it’s essential to nurture the physical body through exercise, healthy/natural food and adequate sleep. Heart chakra energies must be kept clean and clear. This means acting with integrity, honesty, and compassion. It means working through the issues of the ego in order to truly come from the heart and be a clear channel of divine love and wisdom. The mind must also be honored and fed; it must be allowed to question, to analyze, to learn and expand in knowledge and understanding. It must be kept open and fluid, receptive to change and new ideas. The body, heart, mind and spirit are not separate, but like the organs of our body, specialize in different functions, and work together to make a whole.

Everyone has the raw capacity to access information psychically. Indeed, everyone is communicating with spirit and perceiving subtle energies and information at a less than conscious level all the time. The benefits of employing a psychic include having the opportunity to take advantage of that person’s natural and developed ability, without having to spend years and a great deal of daily focus to achieve the same level of conscious awareness. All greatly successful people hire “specialists” to do what is beyond their own range of expertise.

While it is amazing and wonderful to be able to predict the future, it is a far greater gift to be able to use such a skill to empower people to create what they want in their lives. A psychic who works from the heart is truly a healer. Such a reader works not just to be accurate in predicting, but to empower and inspire the client to use the information provided to make decisions and take actions that will lead to where the client personally wants to go. The highest and most effective aim a reader or healer can have is to love another into well-being; to hold an appreciative vision of that individual in perfect harmony and balance, having already achieved what he or she desires. By integrating the ability to foresee the future and channel guidance from Spirit along with an intention of empowering and inspiring others, a psychic can help those she serves to dramatically transform their lives for the better.

Everyone is psychic to one degree or another; some people are just more “aware” of the unseen energies within and around them than others are. Those “gut feelings” and “women’s intuition” are psychic abilities.

Of all the questions we’re asked, this is the most common: “How can I develop my own psychic skills?” The sad thing is, when someone is asked why they want to do this, they don’t usually have an answer. The first suggestion, whether you think you know why or not, is to write down and define why you want to tap into your psychic abilities. Define your “intent.” That word is going to become very important during the course of this topic. The intent behind why you generate energy to meditate, to make a connection to your higher conscious, to the divine sources, determines the base of the energy created.

Do I have the Psychic power?

Start to understand right now that power is an illusion. It’s an ego trip, or an arrogance that serves no purpose except to hold you back. No one has more or less “power” than anyone else. We are all equal. Everyone has the ability within to call upon or talk to Spirit. Calling on a spiritual guide or entity does not give you more power either. You are not the source of power, nor will you be the container for it. Energy flows through us all, from one to another and back again to the spiritual realms around us.

I can’t explain enough how important this is. One of the first things you must learn is how to move your own ego aside and allow the divine forces to work through you and with you. Allowing your own ego to get the best of you will eventually work against your abilities and sometimes your physical body.

Clearing the Psyche

Before a psychic can “become,” he or she has to learn how to clear the psyche. This is probably the most misunderstood metaphysical process and yet one of the most important. Without this “clearing” or releasing, many old patterns will:

Take energy away from the individual, keeping them from raising their consciousness up into the divine ethers.

Set limits on an individual’s perspective (making the perspective linear). Again, this will limit the psychic abilities.

Stop spiritual growth through “not knowing” they’re working on their own divinity.

Without growth, a psychic cannot achieve enlightenment. Once more, this will limit the person’s abilities. Clearing the psyche is removing karma, changing negative thought patterns and achieving spiritual lessons that will help you become a better and “purer” psychic.

Acknowledgement

The first step in clearing the psyche is to acknowledge the existence of a karmic issue or negative trait. Find that one thing in your life that really sticks in your craw and examine it. Define it, look into the details of the issue or event. Why does this issue upset or bother you? How does it affect you when it occurs or when you think about it?

Setting a Form

Once you have defined the issue, give it a form. Sit quietly and move your mind into a meditative state. In your mind, imagine a play or story starring this issue. Allow the images to play out in your mind until everything you’ve defined in acknowledging the issue has been addressed.

Forgiveness

Once you acknowledge the issue and give it form, forgive. Either forgive yourself for having those perceptions, or forgive those individuals or issues you think played a part in it, or both. Until you forgive the issue, you can’t release it and that’s the next step. Within the meditation, attempt to contact the people, or yourself even, to discuss how the issue made you feel and why it affected you the way it did. Then forgive the person, or people, or yourself. See yourself saying I’m sorry. See yourself forgiving the others for the part they played.

Release the past

You have to be able to release the issue, to “take the power” out it so that there’s nothing there to hold you back. This can be done if you have truly forgiven all concerned or related to the issue. In your meditation, imagine yourself opening the door to let the individuals out. Watch the issue as it floats out into the ethers surrounded by unconditional love and forgiveness.

Reward yourself

Finally, once you’ve achieved the acknowledgement, forgiveness and letting go, reward yourself. This is almost instant karmic payback. You worked hard to overcome and bring a positive light to a negative situation, so stroke yourself a little. Buy a new suit or CD player, something that will mark the occasion as a triumph.

All these situations you have within you must be cleared before the “pure” psychic and/or channel can emerge. When we step into the Pituitary chakra to work on these “gifts,” we’re opening up Pandora’s box and the lessons we maintain in our Akashic Records. Most of the time we’re way to hard on ourselves. We perceive negative energies from situations that with a little understanding and unconditional love, we can learn to accept, release and move on from.

Getting Started

As you work on the issues in your life that hold you back from the enlightened path, you can begin developing your gifts. There is a need to understand that the gift will not form to its full potential while issues exist that can cloud your judgment and hold you back.

So where is the best place to start? That’s easy. Meditation. Meditation helps the physical conscious mind connect with the higher or divine consciousness we all have inside ourselves. Through practice and dedication, this “bridging” between our physical and divine selves opens the doors to a new spiritual knowledge that has always existed, but that we may not have been able to “tap” into.

People who meditate on a regular basis report feeling the “need” to improve their attitudes or outlooks on life. This could be one of the positive results of bridging the conscious and sub-conscious spiritual minds together. All of this is important for maintaining a positive energy flow for psychic development. The more positive your attitude is, the easier it is to make a connection to the positive forces around you.

There are numerous forms of meditation such as Yoga, Tai Chi, mantra, gazing and freeform; these are the most common. No one way is better than another. What works for one person may not work for another, so it’s best for people to choose the type of meditation that feels the most comfortable for them. Then one must practice, practice, practice.

There are dozens of books on the market that describe how to meditate, or if you’d like, take a look at our method of meditation. The important part to any meditation though, is learning how set the energy within, how to protect yourself and align your energies with the higher forces on ethereal planes.

Get a notebook and keep track of your experiences, your outlook and so on. First:

Page 1: Define what spirituality is (from your perspective) and what it means to you. Remember that tapping into psychic energies is above all else a spiritual experience.

Page 2:Define “why” you want to develop your psychic abilities.

Page 3:Write down the events, feelings etc., of your meditations during the week.

Doing these exercises should give you some insight into yourself as a spiritual being. A lot of people have “thought” about their spirituality, but I guarantee, when you start writing it down, you’ll write things you never considered before. The “why” will help you identify the blocks that might stand in your way, so be honest with yourself in both these cases. That’s the most important part; don’t hold back, write what you truly feel. The last exercise gives you a picture of where you are now and makes a record for comparison later.

Finding your Special Psychic Gift

Hopefully you did part one, because you’re going to take what you learned about yourself and use that information to help you find your special talent. So go back to your notebook and re-read your reason for wanting to be a psychic. Look at the sentences you wrote from a third person point of view. Are there any “hidden” messages in what you put down on paper? Did you say something like “I want to be able to channel energy in order to help people overcome the blocks in their lives?” If you try and look behind the words, you might see the message of a “Psychic Healer” or a “Healing Channel.”

Now if you can’t find a message in your writing, turn to your meditations. Try and go within and ask your guides for help. Ask your higher conscious mind to show you or tell you about your gifts, how you can begin developing them and how you can overcome any blocks that might stand in your way. Make sure you write down what you experience in that meditation. It may not be clear today, but next week, you might see the same words in a different light and have the answer you seek.

Developing your Psychic Talents

Once you have an idea of what your special gift is, like the student of the piano, you need to begin your lessons at the basics. Start by learning to read the music, where your fingers go on the keyboard, the tempo changes and most importantly again…practice!

If you believe your gift is as a visionary, then I’d suggest you start developing your talent through the use of a tool such as Tarot, runes, pendulum, I-ching, etc. The tool will help you strengthen your talent, further develop your ability and most importantly shore up your confidence in yourself. Remember, however, that the tool is only a tool. It is a mechanism to make a connection to higher divine sources, to help you feel and interpret energies. As you grow and practice, the tools will be needed less and less until finally, the tools will almost be in your way and can be put aside.

If you believe your gift is as a healer, then I’d suggest you find a formal (or several) training classes that interest you. There are many “hands on” healing methods like Reiki, Rolfing, and acupressure. These classes help you understand how energy relates to the body, how to use divine energy to manifest healing, and most importantly, what causes illness within the body and how to help a patient overcome those obstacles.

If you have an interest in herbology, sound therapy, aroma therapy, color therapy and so on, the same suggestions apply. Find someone in your area that teaches a class in the subject of interest.

Reading books and practicing lessons from a manual are good ways to learn, but the experience of an individual (a teacher) is very difficult to put down on paper. That’s why the interaction between teacher and student, or even students with students, is so important. That’s the real benefit of attending classes. You can read all the books in the world and gain a lot of knowledge, but only through the execution of what you learn and the experiences you go through do you gain “wisdom.”

The bottom line is that the piano player doesn’t become a composer over night. It takes classes, training, work, practice and a teacher willing to answer questions and show examples. It takes effort and a willingness to listen. It also takes years! Years of practice and understanding each experience as it happens will develop a strong and reliable psychic ability.

Be ready for some hard karmic lessons if this is the path you wish to take. The Great Spirit WILL mold you into a divine messenger through lessons of unconditional love, humility, greed and ego. They are not the only lessons, and they are not the easy ones to transcend, but they are necessary for an individual who wishes to be a spiritual psychic.

Finally, be careful what you ask for, you will get it!

DEVELOPING PSYCHIC SKILLS

When I was a child, I saw a poster on a classroom wall that showed a photograph of the Grand Canyon in America. It depicted its might and majesty, and underneath the picture it simply said “TO WONDER IS TO BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND.” Those words have stayed with me, and they are as true today as they were then.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

These words form a good starting point for anyone wishing to explore psychic matters, as we shall discover a little later. Although a lot of books have been written on the subject of developing your psychic powers, many seem to become bogged down in an array of mental exercises and complicated diagrams for the student to study. While these may suit some people, I prefer a more natural method; after all, this is a natural human talent! Take your time reading through this page, or better still print it out so that you can refer to it at leisure. Keep an open mind, and above all, enjoy your exploration!

HOW DO YOU BECOME A PSYCHIC?

If you are reading this, then you have already begun! The first step to waking up your psychic faculty is to admit to yourself that you have one. It takes time for the subconscious to be able to communicate with the conscious mind, and the best way to do this is to simply start thinking about it.

For example, you could say to yourself, “I am psychic” on a daily basis. Try to discuss this with whoever is willing. All these thoughts have a positive effect on developing your gift. You should also try to read about the subject; again, this helps to wake things up. Knowledge will help, as you need some understanding of how things work. Adopt the policy you would take with a new hobby. Become involved in it, buy books and magazines, and look for more information on the Internet. Become familiar with various approaches and opinions, and start to develop your own ideas. Deal directly with what appeals to you, what your logic finds reasonable. Disregard what you find difficult to accept. You can always return to it at a later time.

PRACTICE

Set aside some time to practice. Calm the mind, play gentle, soothing music and try to relax. Allow your thoughts to wander. Sometimes it helps to picture a summer scene, a field or meadow with the sun shining. Remember, it is impossible to completely clear the mind, so picture this field and if a picture pops into your head, even briefly, try to work out what it was. Can you relate it to something or somebody? Do you get a feeling of a forthcoming event? Please remember you are NOT trying to contact anyone, that is mediumship.

Practice can be a dreaded word that brings back thoughts of piano lessons and times tables, but it is just as important in the world of the psychic. It’s all about getting used to information coming to you from a different source. The more you practice, the easier it becomes. So what can you do? Try pausing before you do something. For example, when the phone rings, pause a few seconds before answering. Can you tell who it is? Try it when someone knocks at your front door. Try it at work. Can you tell when someone is happy, sad or preoccupied?

Your mind will have become used to receiving information with your usual senses, and it will take time for it to accept this transition. You may be attracted to Tarot cards, and these will help develop your psychic awareness. Also consider psychometry, for it will give you something physical to concentrate on.

You could ask close friends or relatives to let you hold an object belonging to them, such as a lighter, ring or keys. Calm your mind and while exploring the object with your hands, try to let a picture come into your mind. It may be very brief at first, but mention it to the object’s owner anyway to see if he or she can relate to it. When you do this as a beginner, the pictures you see are often very trivial. For example, it could be something they were going to buy, a favorite color or that they missed a bus and were annoyed about it. Try to find someone who can be patient and understanding, and take your time. It’s no use trying to force the information to come through. Above all, accept the fact that you are going to be wrong from time to time. The human mind has a habit of filling in the blanks when psychic intuition is not forthcoming. Also, perhaps a little confusingly, some of the information that may come through can have no bearing at the time, but come to light a few days later.

One important thing: if you do see a picture or get a feeling about something, pursue it. It’s amazing how many people become satisfied with just a little bit of information when there is usually more to be had. It’s great when you get it right, but more difficult is working out why you got it right. Try to remember what it felt like as the vision came into your mind so you can recapture the feeling next time.

When I use Psychometry, I close my eyes for a while, relax as if I am taking a step back from the world, and create a space for the pictures to arrive. You must find a technique that works for you. You are looking for brief pictures that seem to arrive all by themselves. These are things that you were not thinking about. If you manage to get this far, you are making good progress. It is possible, however, to pursue these images further. Ask with your mind to know more about what you are seeing. If appropriate, you will get a negative or positive feeling about what you have seen or felt. This is how psychics work. These positive/negative feelings are used to tell a client about which way they should go in a situation. Alternatively, you may just get more information about an event. If you do, tell the person you are with, but please do not try to be a counselor until you are ready. Remember, you are dealing with people’s lives and emotions.

PREDICTIONS

Some of the people who have written to me have told me how they predicted a plane crash, a car accident or some other major event. This sometimes causes great concern, which is understandable because these are often things we are unable to change. You can’t just walk into the airport and say “One of your planes is going crash!” Chances are folks will think you are a little disturbed.

So why then do we have these big premonitions? Often our psychic sense has been giving us little reminders that it is there, small insignificant signs. We may brush these off as being merely coincidence, so in an effort to get our attention, we see something larger, something more dramatic. This is our psychic awareness waking up and shouting, “Look, I’m here! Take notice.” It often works too! When people do write to me about these premonitions, they are in fact starting to discover their own psychic gifts. When you finally acknowledge that the gift is there, you will find the big events start to disappear, allowing you to concentrate on developing your skill in a more humble fashion.

Psychic intuition is a thought-based talent, and it can feel like you are remembering an experience that was not yours. Often what comes into your mind is a picture, much like a photograph. These “photos” can be black and white, color, still or moving like a short movie. There are also feelings to be picked up. This may not happen as quickly as the “photos,” as this is a deeper form of psychic awareness, but they may be a lot more important. The role of a psychic or medium often goes beyond just giving messages or making predictions. They need compassion and good communication skills to act upon the information received.

Please remember you are dealing with people’s emotions; mediums need experience in presenting this information. For this reason, please do not expect to be able to give readings immediately. You may also fail more than you succeed, and end up spoiling your chances for respect and credibility.

Of note here is another aspect of both psychic and medium development. It’s all too easy to become a little proud of yourself and think you are “special.” Let me tell you now, this attitude is a road to disaster and failure! Remember there are many people the world over who do predictions and have psychic abilities; you are just someone who has awakened your own skills. This thought will serve you well: be humble and have respect for those you are able to read for and you will continue to develop.

Please also adopt a policy of respect. You hold within you a special gift and great responsibility goes with it. People you read for will have come to you from many different backgrounds and belief systems. They may come in fear, sorrow and with little understanding. Your job is to inspire them and make them feel worthwhile, while at the same time honestly conveying what you pick up. Take your time to explain things they may not understand, but don’t rattle on beyond what they are ready to hear. This discernment will come to you, but it is good to think on these matters from the outset.

DEVELOPING MEDIUMSHIP

I sometimes get asked how people can develop their own mediumship skills. While the process is not difficult, intention, sensitivity and respect for others are important.

Most would be mediums train in a development circle or with a teacher. A good place to start is your local Spiritualist church, as many groups start from there. However, you may have to be invited or wait for a suitable opening.

I advise all seeking to develop mediumship to first awaken their psychic skills, then read about other mediums and learn how they get their information. Give yourself an idea of what to expect, what is possible, what could be fantasy. Build a firm base on which to expand, and be patient but explorative. Pay attention to your dreams and what they tell you and allow them to guide you. Although you can develop the skills on your own, try to find someone who will study with you.

CONTACTING YOUR SPIRIT GUIDE

Our expectations of how spirits contact us are often too high. Spirit existence can best be described as thought energy, so it makes sense for them to contact us through our own thoughts. But how do you tell the difference between spirits and your own mind? The thoughts will sound like your own, but they may also be of better clarity, more structured and eloquent in delivery.

If you can still your mind, as with meditation for example, you may be able to detect these thoughts better. Ask questions, but don’t ask for predictions for your own life, and see what thoughts come to you.

“If you believe there are limits, you will work within them. If you believe there are no limits, then you may go beyond the generally accepted methods of communication.”
– Robin Stevens

HOW DO YOU KNOW?

How do prove to yourself that your psychic ability is real? By experience. You store the episodes in your memory. All those things you knew that came true, all the things you could tell other people about themselves, each and every episode fuels your proof. At some point, chance and coincidence are mathematically no longer a factor. You search your feelings, you begin to trust yourself and see the good you are doing and the comfort you are giving. The mysteries of the universe lay before you, no longer mysterious, but like a giant unread book.

Then you remember God gave you the capacity to read.

There have been many famous psychics. Edgar Cayce is probably the most famous, but there were others. There was a Dr. David Hoy who was born in Evanston, Indiana around 1930. One of the main differences between Cayce and Dr. Hoy was that Cayce went into a trance to access his psychic abilities, and Dr. Hoy had his abilities readily available at all times. These two psychics show us that psychic abilities can be extremely accurate and reliable, and that each person has a unique method of accessing them.

Heres the first question, why does this matter? What benefit can we gain from this information? A lot of people feel that anything psychic is too “out there” to be of any real use, that the whole subject is one for those who are “a little off”. But is it? Dont we all trust our “gut instinct” about certain matters? When we meet someone for the first time, dont we trust our “first impression”? What is a first impression, anyways? Science tells us that the first impression is the subconscious reaction to a wide variety of subtle clues including a persons body posture, tone of voice, facial expressions, fluidity of motion, and factors such as how they wear their clothes.

What if there are other clues, even subtler? Have you ever met someone who seemed completely confident, well dressed, and in complete control of the situation, yet had an uneasy feeling about him/her? Where did that feeling come from? And what about the feelings we get about things and places? Yes, it could be simply a resemblance to something in memory, which brings up forgotten feelings associated with whatever we are remembering on the subconscious level.

Are Your Psychic?

By Alan Tutt

But heres the catch. The ability to know things totally unavailable to physical sense has been proven, scientifically. Whether we want to believe in psychic abilities or not, they have been proven to be real. So the question comes back to what benefit can we get from this information?

In our information age (some are saying that weve past the information age and entered the communication age) we generally agree that more information gives us more choices, more power in a situation. If you know that the confident person in front of you whos offering you a fabulous high-paying job will fail in the next year, then you can save yourself the trouble and say no to the job offer. If you know that the business opportunity in your email inbox will make millions in the next several months, then you can jump on it before its too late.

Or, along another line, if you know that that sexy person you just met will become the person of your dreams, but only after having some rough times, you can choose to stick with them and receive the rewards of a satisfying relationship. Actually, the benefits of knowing more information (physically or psychically obtained) is always the availability of more choices, and the ability to make wiser decisions.

Okay, so how can we develop our ability to use the psychic senses reliably. Thats the trick, isnt it? While there have been those who were famous for their psychic abilities, they have been famous because they were unique. For most people, it seems that psychic abilities are far from reliable. Even the psychics working on the 900 lines, and those who make predictions for the papers give inaccurate information. Is the development of psychic abilities possible, or do we get what we get?

When I first started working with psychic abilities, my accuracy rate was a flat zero. Nothing outside of chance. If the ability could not be developed, I would not have been able to improve that. Yet I did improve my accuracy rate. It wasnt easy, mainly because I couldnt find any good information on developing these abilities. Most of what I found were tests and games. And while simple exercise of an ability may make it improve, it didnt work well. So I went back to basics and started working on my own techniques of development.

To make a long story short(er), I found that working on the physical senses (trying to focus my sight, hearing, and other senses to pick up every detail around me), a different type of meditation, and some light hypnosis worked amazingly well. I also found that if I tried too hard I blocked myself off from whatever I needed to make contact with to get the psychic information.

I also found that I could use that same connection to make changes in the world around me. The power of prayer and stories of spiritual healing also intrigued me. This is probably why I experimented with using the psychic connection in this way.

So the bottom line is that psychic abilities can be developed, and the abilities manifest in different ways for different people. Also, psychic abilities can be used for more than gathering information, but can be used to create changes in the world around you.
