How do you find a real, accurate psychic?

Look for a professional with a long track record, a clear way of working, and respect for your free will. A real psychic tells you what they genuinely receive, even when it isn’t what you were hoping to hear. A real psychic won’t promise guaranteed outcomes, won’t ask you for money to remove a curse or “cleanse” your energy, and won’t keep you calling with stories designed to make you feel good.

I’m a professional psychic, and some of my clients have been calling me for more than twenty years. I’ve also been on the other side of the phone. Over the years I’ve had readings from dozens of so-called psychic advisers, and I’ve seen exactly how people who are not real work their magic.

So many people come to me after being hurt, misled, or simply confused by other readings. This page is my honest advice on how to find a psychic you can trust.

How can you tell if a psychic is real?

A real psychic is focused on your question and on the information they actually receive. They listen carefully, ask what you want to know, and explain what they see or hear as clearly as they can. They don’t pretend to know everything, and they don’t tell you something simply because they think it’s what you want to hear.

Psychics aren’t magicians. There are no real Merlins walking around with all the answers! We’re human beings with gifts that allow us to perceive information beyond ordinary observation. What matters is understanding the information we receive and communicating it in a way that is useful to the person asking.

A genuine reading can be encouraging. It can also raise questions you hadn’t considered, or tell you something you weren’t hoping for. That honesty is one of the clearest signs you’re speaking with someone real. I go into more detail in What Is a Professional Psychic Reading?

What are the warning signs of a fake psychic?

If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Be careful if a psychic:

• tells you exactly what you want to hear, every time, and leaves you feeling almost intoxicated after the call;
• promises that the one you love will come back, marry you, and stay with you forever;
• says you have a curse, a negative block, or bad energy that only they can remove;
• asks for money, gifts, or purchases to “cleanse” your energy or fix the problem;
• follows a script, or gives answers that could fit anyone;
• keeps you calling over and over with hope that never turns into anything real.

Many people working as psychic advisers are not real at all. Their job is to keep you on the line, not to help you. They give you hope that keeps you calling until you see that what they said was never true. Then you’re left hurt, disillusioned, and sometimes in debt. How do psychic scams work?

The most notorious scam is the curse or negative block that must be removed. The scammer tells you something dark is attached to you, then asks for money, purchases, or valuables to clear it. There is always one more payment, and it is always “the last time.”

I’ve spoken with clients who were pressured into opening credit lines, buying expensive handbags and suits, and even placing a big-screen TV in a box to “cleanse” their energy. These are not spiritual people. They are criminals who prey on people when they are most vulnerable, and they take your peace of mind along with your money.

How accurate is a psychic reading?

A psychic reading can be very accurate in the information that comes through. Accuracy depends a great deal on the question. A clear, specific question gives me something real to work with. A vague question can sometimes produce some pretty funny information!

That’s why my readings are focused on the questions you bring, and why I often help clients reword a question before we begin. The clearer the question, the clearer the answer.

Why can a reading be accurate but the timing be wrong?

Everyone wants to know when. When will I meet my love? When will the job come through? It’s human nature. But so much of what we want to know about timing simply cannot be known in advance, and dates are one of the hardest things to see.

I have predicted dates, or come close, for many people. When a date comes through, I give it to you. When it doesn’t, I say so. The content of your reading is the most important part. Will a real psychic tell me what to do?

No. A genuine reading respects your free will. I can show you what is influencing a situation, the feelings around it, and the possibilities ahead. But the choice of what to do is always yours.

Why do different psychics tell me different things?

If you call psychic after psychic with the same question, you will almost certainly hear different answers, and some of them will come from people who are not real. Calling again and again often adds confusion rather than clarity. It is better to find one trusted adviser and give the reading time to unfold. How do I choose a psychic I can trust?

• Take the reading seriously. Decide whether you want real guidance or entertainment, and look accordingly.
• Be careful with large networks. Some have real, gifted psychics, but many do not check who they hire.
• Look for a private, professional psychic. Someone with their own practice and their own name on their work.
• Check their history. How long have they been reading? How long has their website been up? Search their name and see what others say about them.
• Find one adviser and stay with them. When you find a professional who is good for you, you don’t need to go from one to the next.
