Who really is your soul mate?
We don't have just one. We are all born into soul groups, and within your group there are many soul mates: people you are meant to have experiences with so you can learn and grow. Your twin flame, the other half of your soul, is something different, and a reader may see a strong bond between two souls, but only you, the other person and God can know if it's your twin flame.
After years of psychic and numerology readings, I have come to see that "Who really is my soul mate?" is one of the strongest influences in our lives, and one of the questions I am asked most often. The words "soul mate" stir up our deep instinct to be with a person we like to think is meant to be, and to know if the object of our desire is indeed "the one." Or is it a false positive, just a hunger for what we want most and experience least?
What do we mean by a soul mate?
Soul mate. It brings up a common belief that at some point in our lives we are destined to find the one person who is our other half, the other side of the equation that completes us, the ultimate fulfilling love we are bound to.
You know: not necessarily the one we're with now, where it feels, well, just OK, and perhaps they'll do until the real one comes along. Not that one. The one who, when we meet them, we'll just know, and feel something we've never felt before. You just have a feeling they are the one.
The only problem is you've met a number of people who could fit that description. And that is the thing. Is a soul mate the only person with whom you can have a profound connection, to the exclusion of all others, a sole mate? Are we left abandoned and alone if we never find that feeling, or never meet the one person born to fulfill our drive for a companion and love partner on this plane of existence?
Why do I feel this person is my soul mate or twin flame?
For many of us, though not all, it is a desire so strong that we believe we could never be truly complete or happy unless we fulfill it. So we suspect a soul mate is a tremendous connection that nature, God or destiny will bring into our lifetime. Without it, we may feel lost and not special, as if God has abandoned us or, worse, we weren't worthy of that special relationship in this life. It leaves us feeling incomplete. So is it our destiny always to find the one? Is there only one person who can fulfill us?
What are soul groups?
Through my meditations, I have received knowledge and truth from higher consciousness. In one meditation, before I had read anything similar on soul mates or twin flames, I received this message: we are all born into soul groups.
Within these groups there are definite experiences we are slated to have. You may choose who and when, but only within the soul group you were born into. Free will plays an important role in our lives at all times, and so does randomness; otherwise we'd all be robots with no need for consciousness or free will. So within our groups we have options that are random within the boundary of the group.
Think of a recipe for a pie. There are ingredients you must use, but you can choose what kind of pie it will be, mix up the ingredients, and make it now or later. Our soul group is made of many different people, and there are certain people you "must" have an experience with to get to the next level. But you can choose. Your group may include family, friends and associates. Your family is predetermined; outside of family, you choose. Some you will meet, and some you have met before.
Why do some people feel so familiar?
That feeling of familiarity, of having met or known someone before, is because you have. Sometimes these are karmic relationships: think of them as ongoing relationships from past lives that were left unresolved, where you have both chosen to be here now. When this happens there is often, at first, a feeling of happiness and kindred spirit. That is definitely someone in your soul group. A soul mate! But as many of us know, soul mate relationships are not always the pleasant kind.
Sometimes we mistake that familiarity and kindred spirit for a sign that the person is the one (a life mate), because the feelings and attraction are so strong. You will be attracted to a soul mate! It goes with the territory. The question is how to know when they are the one you are meant to have a long-term relationship with, leading to marriage, children and so on.
Do we have more than one soul mate?
Yes. The truth is we have many soul mates when we incarnate. You get to choose from the available souls in your group. What matters most, and is seldom thought of, is that we are meant to have the experience! To learn and grow from being with that person, whether or not it leads to a lifelong relationship. Life is short; learn fast. Even if the soul mate you are with now does not lead to marriage or a permanent relationship, what you learn will lead you to your next experience, which you will also choose. Stay with me.
So try to think outside the box. Think of life as a place we have come to learn, grow and evolve, to become enlightened and rise to higher spiritual planes. Our relationships, choices and decisions define how we live our lives and, more importantly, how we will live our future.
What is a twin flame?
In the beginning, our souls split in two (twins): one half feminine, the other masculine. Think of the positive and negative charges in an atom. Although like charges repel each other, a stronger force holds them together, creating something potentially very powerful.
We incarnate over and over. We come together and live life sometimes together and sometimes apart, constantly searching for each other while constantly evolving. Eventually, if you are evolved enough to match the force of the other, you will have the twin flame relationship on this plane of existence. Ultimately your souls will join again and be one.
That is why we walk this earth in search of our other half, with an instinctive, powerful drive to find it, and why it becomes so important to all of us at some point in our evolution. It is like the air we breathe: an essential part of the soul and its destiny to be one again. From there the possibilities are endless. Imagine the power of love joining two perfected souls as one for eternity. We are only at the beginning of this love story here on earth, and the journey is just as important as the destination! In fact, if you are here, it's all about the journey and learning to love yourself.
I would love to hear about your experiences with your soul mates.
What are the four kinds of soulmates?
Here are some enlightening thoughts on soul mates and twin flames from Ruth Montgomery. We all incarnate in soul groups: our family members, children, lovers, friends, colleagues and so on. All of them, and especially our love partner, fit into four kinds of soulmates.
Karmic soulmate. Deep passion and strong love, but a lot of hurt and pain. Nine times out of ten, this love is not meant to last. When the karma is balanced, the relationship usually ends.
Companion soulmate. Very compatible: a very happy lover and best friend. There is a purpose to the relationship, an assignment that can only be completed with joint energy, like raising special children, working on a project (two scientists, for example), or something as simple as baking love-filled bread. These relationships only last if your true twin flame is not available, because they are married to a karmic partner or remain in the astral plane to guide and connect with you spiritually. If the relationship is ONLY about a project, the person (subconsciously) gives you the push to reach your goals, or helps you fulfill a dream you couldn't have on your own.
The near twin. Comes just before a twin flame reunion. The synchronicity is strong, and you feel guided to be together. There is sometimes instant recognition of the soul from a past life, or from your shared soul group, which includes family, relatives, friends and the people in your circle. If you had your charts done, an astrologer would say you match perfectly for marriage. They may be your best friend, and the connection is as intense as if they were your twin flame. An example from legend: in Camelot, Guinevere was married to King Arthur, and they loved each other. But when Lancelot showed up, he was the man in her heart of hearts.
Twin flame. No matter how many soulmates you have had or how many times you've been married, in the highest planes of Spirit this is the true husband or wife. It is just as difficult as a karmic soulmate relationship, if not more. You may have recurring dreams that never seem to materialize, because one partner is not "listening" to the still, small voice within. The synchronicity is even stronger here, and there is an easy telepathic connection no matter the distance. Each is a mirror image of the other's soul: two completely different individuals, yet whole as one when together. That can be both good and bad, strong and weak.
Not many people achieve this bond, because if both partners are not evolved enough, they tear apart, never forgetting and never able to cut the bond of love. Sometimes it's just timing: each partner needs to complete some things on their own and become whole individually first. The waiting makes the one who knows stop believing and settle for a substitute. If they make it, the Universe rewards them and uses both AS ONE energy of Love, through which the Light of God passes. In this instance only, 1 + 1 does not equal 2. It equals the Power of 20.
Can a psychic tell you if someone is your twin flame?
It is my belief that a reader may "see" the strong connection or bond between two souls, but no reader or astrologer can tell you if that person is your twin flame. This unique relationship is between you, the other person, and God.
