How can you tell if your psychic is really accurate or just selling you a dream?
A psychic who is selling you a dream tells you what you want to hear, has all the answers within seconds, asks you a lot of questions so they can make educated guesses, and keeps moving the dates out when nothing happens. A real psychic takes time to connect with your energy, gives you specific details rather than generalities, and tells you the truth even when it isn't what you hoped for. The rest is up to you: do your research first, and don't help your psychic sell you a dream.
If you found this article, you may have recently had a psychic reading, and something made you wonder if what you heard was accurate. Perhaps you had a nagging feeling that it sounded too good to be true. Or maybe you are thinking about getting a reading and wanted to know how accurate psychics are before you call.
How does a psychic sell you a dream?
If you are somewhat new to psychic readings, you most likely found a website with hundreds or thousands of psychic advisers waiting to take your call. How convenient: when you need some insight, or want to know what your love might be doing when you're not around, you come across a number of large websites offering psychic readings. They might offer some free time to get you started, and you're off. You call one or two to see what they have to say, and amazingly, they say very similar things. You think, wow, there must be something to this. You may start thinking things like:
- It must be true. This guy I just met, who I'm so attracted to, likes me just as much as I like him. Both of them told me he's my soul mate and that no matter what, we're going to be together. They said in just a few weeks he'll ask me out, and by summer we'll be a couple. OMG, I knew it! I knew he was attracted to me; he just didn't want to act like it because he's been hurt in the past.
Now suppose a few weeks go by and he never makes a move to ask you out. You've become Facebook friends, and you start keeping watch on his activity. You keep calling these two psychics, and they've moved the date out a bit "because of free will" and say you just have to be patient. They tell you he loves you and thinks about you all the time, and add some other details that amaze you, so you decide to hold on and wait. Maybe you're just rushing it. It's been two months now. You've run into him a couple of times; he seems a little shy and hasn't said anything, but he seems to be admiring you, so you think it's just a matter of time. And nothing ever happens. You never even get to date him.
Why do psychics sell false hope?
There's no excuse for a psychic adviser to spin tales and sell you false hope. But they will. This is not a spiritual practice. Still, you have to take responsibility from the beginning for making sure you are speaking with a REAL psychic adviser: one who has talent and integrity and would never mislead you or deliberately lie to you.
Unfortunately, many people encounter fakes, and then become angry, because in the end the truth about the situation comes out, along with the fact that they were lied to. That is never a pleasant realization. The real psychics are not readily visible on huge networks that perpetuate the "imitation" standard. You have to make an effort to find them, so do your research before making your first call. So many people have been disillusioned with psychics because of this imitation standard, and it hurts the real ones. And there are real ones.
So keep these facts in mind, and make sure you are not helping your psychic sell you a dream. It's so easy to do without even realizing it, especially in matters of the heart, which 90% of readings are about. And when matters of the heart are involved, believing fabricated stories can lead to painful disappointment.
What are the clues that you may be dealing with a fake psychic?
- They connect instantly, without tuning in to your energy at all. If a psychic has all the answers within a second of your last syllable, this could be a sign they are not real. On networks, when you are on the clock (especially with some of the outrageous per-minute rates out there), you are often in a hurry, and the psychic feels pressured to rush information to you. You're not helping yourself. It takes about the first three minutes for a psychic to get a really good connection to your energy. A real psychic is a sentient person who connects with higher consciousness, not an amusement park fortune teller or a slot machine. Spiritual advice flows through a channel and is best received when it isn't hurried. That's why a private professional phone psychic can provide a relaxed environment, with discretion over their time. I usually spend five minutes or so with my client before starting the session, because it relaxes us both.
- They ask you a lot of questions. They may be good at giving practical advice, which isn't a bad thing, but it's not a psychic connection. They ask a lot of questions so they can make educated guesses.
- They're distracted. If your psychic is eating, there's a lot of background noise, you can hear them typing or turning the pages of a script and reading from it, or they're falling asleep, they aren't even a good fake psychic. They're totally unprofessional.
- They make you feel good, and you keep calling back for that feeling. You may have fallen into the trap and be participating in your own fantasy. It may be that you're not ready to hear the truth, and the fantasy satisfies you temporarily. Fantasies often form as an escape from a bad experience, and the fake psychic becomes the perfect link to escapism rather than a connection to knowledge from the Source. I call this tendency the Psycle of Mutual Exploitation, and it can easily become an addiction or dependency (see my article, Psychic Dependency on the Psychic Reading Circuit).
How can you help make sure your reading is accurate?
- Ask your first question without giving a lot of detail. Try to resist. Some general information can apply to most people, so wait for specific details, not generalities. Participate where necessary; a psychic sometimes needs clarification to understand something they are receiving. But if you tell the whole shebang before you've established that they have psychic ability and a real connection, they'll end up coming to logical conclusions and feeding you back the information you gave them. Curb your enthusiasm. Once you know your psychic is legitimate, feel free to share with a trusted professional adviser.
- Don't focus on timelines or exact dates. A fake psychic can't make accurate predictions, much less accurate timelines. Besides, if you lock yourself into a specific time and place, you stop the flow of your energy and interfere with your own future. Even a real psychic can't always tell you exactly when something will happen; I cover this thoroughly in My Psychic Reading Was Accurate, The Dates Were Wrong!
- Be very careful when you're feeling down or vulnerable. An imitation psychic will take complete advantage of you. Some feel justified because they make you feel good, but they don't care about the pain you'll feel when you realize you've been lied to. Trust your concerns only to a professional spiritual counselor.
The main thing is establishing a relationship with a real, legitimate psychic who can help empower you. From there, you will find the answers you are seeking. There are spiritually gifted, legitimate psychic intuitives who can help you. Believe that. But also remember there are far too many pretend, imitation psychics out there waiting to sell you A DREAM.
